Lincoln Center Theater's revival of Clifford Odets’ boxing drama Golden Boy begins performances at Broadway’s Belasco Theatre on November 9. Directed by Tony winner Bartlett Sher, the play stars Seth Numrich, Tony Shalhoub, Yvonne Strahovski and Danny Burstein. Golden Boy officially opens on Broadway on December 6.
Golden Boy is the story of Joe Bonaparte (Numrich), a young, gifted violinist who is torn between pursuing a career in music and earning big money as a prize fighter. The play originally premiered on Broadway in 1937 and has only been revived once, in 1952 at the ANTA Playhouse (now the August Wilson Theatre). The revival marks the play's 75th anniversary.
The cast also includes Dagmara Dominczyk, Michael Aronov, Danny Mastrogiorgio, Anthony Crivello, Demosthenes Chrysan, Sean Cullen, Ned Eisenberg, Brad Fleischer, Karl Glusman, Jonathan Hadary, Daniel Jenkins, Dion Mucciacito, Vayu O’Donnell, Lucas Caleb Rooney and David Wohl.
